Printing Booklet Creation Prints your document in the form of a small book. You must have the optional duplex module installed to use this feature. It is available for any paper size that is supported for 2-sided (duplex) printing (see Duplex (2-Sided Printing) on page 31).

Printing When you fold several pages into a booklet, the thickness of the paper forces the page image of the inner pages to shift slightly outward. The Creep control allows you to choose a number of dots by which to shift the page images inward to compensate for the thickness of the paper.

Printing First page different Same as “Cover page.” Font substitution table The options are: TrueType Font/Print Font Lists the TrueType fonts on your computer and the printer font that is the closest match. To change the default selections for the comparable printer fonts, select any font in the list of printer resident fonts.

Printing Multiple Pages Per Side By default, the printer prints one page image on the sheet of paper. You can select two, four, six, nine or sixteen page images per side of paper. The printer shrinks the page images as needed and arranges them on the paper most appropriately for the paper size and orientation.

Printing Orientation Orientation refers to the direction of print on the page. The options are: Portrait A Portrait page is taller than it is wide. This is the default setting. Landscape A Landscape page is wider than it is tall. Rotated Landscape A Rotated Landscape page is wider than it is tall and the image on the page is rotated 180 degrees (upside down).

Printing Policy (Page) Page Size Policies are used to specify the recovery policy when the requested page size cannot be matched with any available media. The options are: Use printer default. Uses the Page Policy set on the printer as its default. The factory default is Off (see the System Menu description on page 55).

Printing Proof Print Use only for multicopy jobs. You must assign a password (a four-digit value from 0000 to 7777, using only the digits 0 through 7) and a copy count in the driver before submitting the print job. The printer processes, queues and prints the first copy immediately. You must then enter the corresponding password on the printer's front panel before the rest of the copies will print.

Printing TrueType Options Allows you to select options associated with the use and printing of TrueType fonts. The options are: Download as TrueType (the default) The whole character set for each TrueType font contained on the page is sent down to the printer in an outline form.

Maintaining the Printer Adjusting Color Density and Balance Over the life of the printer, colors may change. For example, reds may begin to take on a purple cast, or blues may take on a green cast. This happens during the normal use of a color printer and can be easily remedied by using the color adjustment procedure described in this section.

Troubleshooting Troubleshooting Before You Begin Troubleshooting Note the following safety tips before you begin troubleshooting and checking for possible hardware, software and printer maintenance issues. Note Do not use tools or sharp objects to clear paper jams since this may damage the printer.
