Adjusting the keyboard beeper volume
You can adjust the volume of the keyboard beeper to high or low using the volume
control located on the rear of the keyboard.

See Figure 117. To set the volume to high, turn the knob clockwise. Turning the
knob counter-clockwise sets the volume to low. IBM recommends that you set the
volume to high, because it is cumbersome to change it after you install the
keyboard on the POS terminal.

Meaning
The initial program loading (IPL) has completed and the POS
terminal is operational.
A process wait condition by the POS terminal, such as a program
load wait condition, exists. In this situation, the POS terminal
continues the processing after the wait condition is cleared. The
keyboard is locked and you can only enter system function
requests using the system function keys.
The POS terminal is operating offline. In this state, the operator
can display offline messages by using the system function keys.
These messages indicate the offline state of the POS terminal.
A system message sent from the system unit is pending display.
Press a system function key to display the message.
