Installing and removing lock inserts

The cash drawer, keyboard, and Model 4 printer can have optional locks that
prevent unauthorized persons from using the terminal. If no lock is installed, a blank
lock insert can be used to cover the opening that is made.

Preparing to install a lock or a blank lock insert

To install a lock insert, you need the following items:

v Aligner B
v Brass installation/removal key C
To install a blank lock insert, you need the following items:
v Blank lock installation handle D
v Blank lock insert E
The aligner is a tool used to ensure that the slot at the bottom of the lock cylinder
aligns with the lock insert being installed.

Figure 82 shows the aligner in place in the lock cylinder of the cash drawer or
keyboard A , or Model 4 printer B . Note that the arrow will point in different
directions, depending on the kind of device. Refer to this figure when you install a
lock in the different devices.

Installing a lock insert

The procedure is the same for installing a lock insert in any device. Only the aligner
position changes from device to device (see Figure 82 and the related text). To
make sure that the slot at the bottom of the lock cylinder is in alignment with the
end of the lock insert, go through the following steps:
