Tip: You can also adjust highlights, midtones, and shadows automatically by clicking the Auto
button in the Curves dialog box.
To delete a point along the curve:
Drag the point off the grid.
Note: You cannot delete the end points of the curve.
Using tonal eyedroppers
You can adjust the highlights, shadows, and midtones using the Shadow, Highlight, or Midtone
eyedropper in the Levels or Curves dialog box.
To adjust the tonal balance manually using the tonal eyedroppers:
Open the Levels or Curves dialog box, and choose a color channel from the Channel pop-up

menu.
Choose the appropriate eyedropper to reset the tonal values in the image:

Click the lightest pixel in the image with the Highlight eyedropper to reset the
highlight value.
Click a pixel of neutral color in the image with the Midtone eyedropper to reset the
midtone value.
Click the darkest pixel in the image with the Shadow eyedropper to reset the shadow value.
Click OK.

Adjusting brightness and contrast
The Brightness/Contrast feature modifies the contrast or brightness of pixels in an image. This
affects the highlights, shadows, and midtones of an image. You typically use Brightness/Contrast
when correcting images that are too dark or too light.
