  • Page 18: Description

The JLA-12.500 fixed angle rotor, rated for 12,000 rpm, is designed to centrifuge up to six 500 mL containers at a 30-degree angle to the axis of rotation. Used in Beckman Coulter Avanti JXN-26 and JXN-30 series centrifuges (not for use in older Avanti J-Series), the rotor develops centrifugal forces that can efficiently pellet cells from large volumes of culture media, cell particles from tissue homogenates, or subcellular organelles.
  • Page 19 The JLA-12.500 rotor with dual-locking lid has been tested to demonstrate containment of microbiological aerosols under normal operating conditions of the associated Beckman Coulter centrifuge, when used and maintained as instructed. Ensure the O-ring is properly installed and lubricated. The dual-locking capability provides added biosafety by allowing the rotor to be loaded into and removed from the centrifuge with the lid in place.

J-Lite JLA-12.500 Fixed-Angle Rotor Assembly Care and Maintenance Regularly lubricate the rotor drive’s hole and the metal threads of the rotor body, daisy knob, and tie-down knob with a thin, even coat of Spinkote lubricant. Failure to keep these threads lubricated can result in damaged threads or sticking knobs.
  • Page 33: Decontamination

Decontamination If the rotor body becomes contaminated with radioactive material, it should be decontaminated using a solution that will not damage the anodized surfaces. Beckman Coulter has tested Radiacwash and found that it does not harm anodized aluminum.
  • Page 34: Sterilization And Disinfection

Only hydrogen peroxide solution is recommended. Use of Vaporous Hydrogen Peroxide will cause permanent damage to anodized surfaces. While Beckman Coulter has tested these methods and found that they do not damage the rotor or components, no guarantee of sterility or disinfection is expressed or implied. When sterilization or disinfection is a concern, consult your laboratory safety officer regarding proper methods to use.
