Filling the system for all PYT model drives
Coolants may foam up when cycled through the system or when the pumps are shut off and the
coolants tend to rise.
Do not fill the reservoir to the top while the unit is running or it may overflow when the pumps are shut
off.
If foaming is evident while filling with the inhibited solution, repeat the steps outlined in
process for HYP model drives
in
External piping components for all PYT model drives
1.
Confirm that the heat exchanger drain valve is closed.
2.
Remove the cap from the coolant reservoir.
3.
Fill the coolant loop at the coolant reservoir.
Note: Pour the inhibitor into the reservoir slowly to minimize the foaming that may take
place when filling with coolant.
4.
Apply 115 VAC power to the chiller.
5.
Start the pumps using the OptiView panel.
Press Home > VSD > VSD Details > Manual Cooling > Enable.
6.
Allow the pumps to run for only 15 seconds.
7.
Disable the pumps.
On the OptiView panel, press Home > VSD > VSD Details > Manual Cooling > Disable.
8.
Check the fill pipe and add more inhibitor if needed to bring the level back to within 1 in. (5.1
cm) from the top.
9.
Start the pumps using the OptiView panel.
Press Home > VSD > VSD Details > Manual Cooling > Enable.
10. Allow the pumps to run for 5 minutes.
11. Disable the pumps.
On the OptiView panel, press Home > VSD > VSD Details > Manual Cooling > Disable.
12. Ensure that the drain valve is closed and remove the drain hose.
13. Use the plastic demineralizer bottles from the validation kit to remove any contaminants from
the sample bottles that are used for measuring the following parameters. See kit contents for
instruction for use of the demineralizer bottle.
14. Collect a sample of the inhibitor to measure the pH.
a. Collect and test the sample using the instructions and materials contained in the
validation kit P/N 013-04131-000.
Note: The target value is less than 9.
b. Log the final value.
c. If this value is greater than 9, contact product technical support (PTS) for guidance.
15. Collect a sample of the inhibitor to measure the molybdenum content.
a. Collect and test the sample using the instructions and materials contained in the
validation kit P/N 013-04131-000.
Note: The target value is 90 ppm. The acceptable range is 50 ppm to 120 ppm.
