Filling procedure for HYP0744 drive only
Note: The following fill procedure applies only to HYP744 model drive. See
for HYP0490, HYP0612, HYP0774, HYP1100, and HYP1278/HYP1300
other HYP model drives.
Coolants may foam up when cycled through the system or when the pumps are shut off and the
coolants tend to rise.
Do not fill the reservoir to the top while the unit is running or it may overflow when the pumps are shut
off.
If foaming is evident while filling with the inhibited solution, repeat the steps outlined in
process for HYP model drives

External piping components for all HYP model drives
1.
Confirm that the heat exchanger drain valve and both of the output inductor drain valves are
closed.
2.
Open the supply manifold valves.
3.
Remove the cap from the coolant reservoir.
4.
Connect a low volume pump to the bottom fitting on the output inductor.
5.
Use the low volume pump to fill the coolant loop. Open the valve for the bottom fitting on the
output inductor.
6.
Slowly fill the cooling system until the inhibitor is within 2 in. (5.1 cm) from the top of the
coolant reservoir.
7.
Close the valve for the bottom fitting on the output inductor, and remove the low volume
pump.
8.
Apply 120 VAC service power to the drive. Refer to Form 160.78-M3.
9.
Start the pumps using the OptiView panel.
Press Home > VSD > VSD Details > Manual Cooling > Enable.
10. Allow the pumps to run for only 15 seconds.
11. Disable the pumps.
Press Home > VSD > VSD Details > Manual Cooling > Disable.
12. Check the fill pipe and add more inhibitor if needed to bring the level back to the within 1 in.
(2.5 cm) from the top.
13. Start the pumps and run for 5 minutes.
14. Disable the pumps and check the fill pipe. Add more inhibitor if needed to bring the level
back to within 1 in. (2.5 cm) from the top.
15. Repeat Step 9 to Step 14 as needed until there is no drop in the reservoir level greater than 2
in. (5.1 cm) detected during operation of the pumps.
16. Use the plastic demineralizer bottles in the validation kit to remove any contaminants
from the sample bottles that are used for measuring the following parameters. See the kit
contents for instructions for how to use the demineralizer bottle.
17. Collect a sample of the inhibitor to measure the pH.
a. Collect and test the sample using the instructions and materials contained in the
validation kit, P/N 013-04131-000.
