Filling procedure for HYP0490, HYP0612, HYP0774, HYP1100,
and HYP1278/HYP1300
Note: The following fill procedure applies only to HYP0490, HYP0612, HYP0774, HYP1100, and
HYP1278/HYP1300 model drives.
Coolants may foam up when cycled through the system or when the pumps are shut off and the
coolants tend to rise.
Do not fill reservoir to top while the unit is running or it may overflow when the pumps are shut off.
If foaming is evident while filling with the inhibited solution, repeat the steps outlined in
process for HYP model drives
in
External piping components for all HYP model drives
1.
Confirm that the heat exchanger drain valve and both of the output inductor drain valves are
closed.
2.
Remove the cap from the coolant reservoir.
3.
Fill the coolant loop at the coolant reservoir.
Note: Pour the inhibitor into the reservoir slowly to minimize the foaming that may take
place when filling with inhibitor.
4.
The HYP1100, HYP1278, and HYP1300 family of drives require 230 VAC to operate the drive
coolant pumps. When pump operation is required, the drive needs to have 460 VAC applied.
Follow all requirements for the removal and application of line power to the drive. Refer to
Form 160.84-M3.
Note: All other models of HYP drives not listed can use 120 VAC to operate the drive
coolant pumps. Refer to either Form 160.78-M3 or Form 160.84-M3 as appropriate for
these control power requirements.
5.
Start pumps using the OptiView panel.
a. Press Home > VSD > VSD Details > Manual Cooling > Enable.
b. Press Home > VSD > Power Panel > Manual Power Panel Cooling > Enable.
6.
Allow the pumps to run for 15 seconds.
7.
Disable the pumps.
a. Press Home > VSD > VSD Details > Manual Cooling > Disable.
b. Press Home > VSD > Power Panel > Manual Power Panel Cooling > Disable.
8.
Check the fill pipe and add more inhibitor if needed to bring the level back to the within 1 in.
(2.5 cm) from the top.
9.
Start the pumps and run for 5 minutes.
10. Disable the pumps and check the fill pipe. Add more inhibitor if needed to bring the level
back to within 1 in. (2.5 cm) from the top.
11. Repeat Step 5 to Step 10 as needed until there is no drop in the reservoir level greater than 2
in. (5.1 cm) detected during operation of the pumps.
12. Use the plastic demineralizer bottles in the validation kit to remove any contaminants
from the sample bottles that are used for measuring the following parameters. See the kit
contents for instructions for how to use the demineralizer bottle.
