6. PORTABLE EDGE BANDER PEB ZEROLINE.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A GOOD EDGE BANDING
B
Below are the most important recommendations to consider
when using the PEB ZEROLINE, taking into account the panel,
edge, and working temperature.
6.1 ABOUT THE EDGE AND THE PANEL
• The edge of the panel to be edged must be perfectly square
(90°) with its surface and free of dust. For panels with an
inclination of up to 55°, refer to section 8.4 Adjusting the
inclined guide support.
• For a good finish when edging thin edges, reduce the wor-
king temperature.
• It is recommended that the pieces and edges to be glued are
not at a temperature below 15°C (59°F).
• Always apply sufficient pressure against the edge to achieve
good edging.
• For edges with a thickness of 2 mm and resistant material,
enough pressure should be applied to overcome its stiffness.
6.2 ABOUT EDGE TEMPERATURE AND FEED SPEED.
ORIENTATIVE TABLE OF WORK PARAMETERS
Refer to the chart on page 25 detailing the tested working
conditions for different types of edge. Select the most suitable
temperature and feed speed according to your practical work
to be carried out.
B
Perform a test to ensure that the temperature and feed
speed settings are appropriate for the type of edge banding
tape chosen.
6.3 GENERALITIES
• Always hold the machine horizontally during and after use.
• Before edging interior or exterior radii, make a test sample.
• Keep the machine free of dust or chips. A dirty machine will
produce poor quality edging.
6.4 CONCLUSIONS
• Increasing the working temperature does not necessarily
result in better edge banding.
• Consider the board's porosity, the type of functional layer
on the edge banding, its material, stiffness, and the working
temperature.
• A polymer functional layer requires a higher working tem-
perature.
• A coextruded functional layer requires a lower working
temperature.
• An imprimated or "pre-glued" functional layer requires a
lower working temperature.
• Thinner edge banding requires less temperature.
