Trouble
Voltmeter remains at zero with any
position of the adjustment knob.
Voltmeter remains at 230 V with
any position of the adjustment
knob.
A circuit breaker in switchboard
where the machine is connected to
trips whenever machine is turned
on.
Possible reason
VS power regulator fault.
RP variable resistor fault.
XA1, XA2 brush units fault.
Slip rings worn out.
Open circuit.
Adjustment knob is not fixed to the
variable resistor shaft.
PV voltmeter fault.
VS power regulator fault.
Short circuit in the machine.
Remedy
Check regulator operation.
Replace fault component.
Check resistor operation.
Replace fault component.
Check condition of brush units and
carbon electrodes in them.
Replace fault component.
Check slip rings condition.
Replace the spinning head if
required.
Check continuity between:
•SA1, SA2 switches
•PV voltmeter
•VS power regulator
•RP variable resistor
•XA1, XA2 brush units.
Restore connection, face up pitted
contacts, tighten loosen contacts.
In case if open circuit found inside
the spinning head, replace the
spinning head.
Check adjustment knob fixation;
tight up the fixing screw if required.
Check voltmeter operation.
Replace fault component.
Check power regulator operation.
Replace fault component.
Locate and eliminate short circuit in
the machine.
Replace fault component.
