Types of Home Networks
Ethernet Network
An Ethernet network
connects your computers
using a standard Category 5
cable (which must be
installed in your house) and
an Ethernet hub. Each
computer on the network
requires an Ethernet
adaptor 1. Ethernet is
commonly used in corporate
environments today.
Advantages:
Faster data transfer rate (up to 100 Mbps)

Ability to support virtually all popular network protocols

Disadvantages:
Special planning for Category 5 wire installation and higher
