Hewlett-Packard Boot ROM Functions

A Series 400 Boot ROM, Revision 1, is used in the Series 400 system units for the HP-
UX Compatible Mode. The Boot ROM is on the CPU board. When the system unit is
turned on, these Boot ROM instruction sets are executed by the CPU:
• Default Configure Mode. Configuring the system unit's information is in Ap-
4.7.1

Display Types

Two display types are used with Series 400 systems:
If your system uses a terminal connected to the system units's RS-232 interface,
display updates appear at the bottom of the screen. Older information scrolls up. New
information appears with the screen's uppermost line that changed and all lines below
that appearing at the screen's bottom.
For example, at turn-on, the screen appears as shown in Subsection 4.7.2. If your ter-
minal uses 32 display rows and you turn on and then reset the system unit, then reset it,
your screen shows the bottom few lines of the power-up display at its top. After reset-
ting, the power-up display appears below those lines.
