Deleting
Unwanted Files
The more you use your
computer, the more files
you will create. In time, the
hard drive can become
cluttered and performance
may suffer.
It's easy to take an
inventory of files stored on
your computer and do some
regular "house cleaning."
Tip
When in doubt, don't delete a
file.

Deleting Unwanted Files
Taking Inventory of Your Hard Drive
1. Double
My Computer
the Windows desktop. The
My Computer window is
displayed.
2. Right-click the disk on which
you need to free space, and
click Properties on the pop-
up menu.

3. On the General tab, click Disk
Cleanup.
4. Click the files you want to
delete.
5. Click OK.

necessary for system or program

extensions: .exe, .dll, or .ini.
