MCLS2-CUSTOM 4-Channel Laser/SLD Source
to modulate the lasers or SLDs with an external signal. The external modulation signal is added to the internal set
points. To prevent damage, the microcontroller will disable the output if the analog input plus the internal set
point exceeds the laser or SLD limits.
While most output sources fall within the class 3B or lower laser ratings, the system was fully designed to meet
class 4 laser requirements. The MCLS2-CUSTOM source is equipped with a remote interlock located on the rear
panel that must be shorted for any laser or SLD output to be enabled. This can easily be configured to be triggered
by doors to disable the lasers or SLDs in unsafe conditions. A shorting pin is included and installed for use without
an interlock circuit. The power switch is a keylock system to prevent accidental or unwanted use. Each source has
its own enable button allowing the user to choose the light source or sources they wish to be active, as well as an
Enable All button which allows for enabling all light sources, starting from all sources off, or disabling all enabled
sources, when any light source is enabled. Each channel includes a white LED indicator to easily determine if
emissions are present. There is a 5 second delay before the laser(s) or SLD(s) turns on and the user is warned by
the LED(s) blinking.
The MCLS2-CUSTOM source includes a universal power supply allowing operation over 85 – 264 VAC without the
need for selecting the line voltage. The fuse access is conveniently located on the rear panel. This unit is supplied
with a US line cord as well as a standard European line cord.
