Cause
• The LD is not a Dolby Digital compatible
disc.
• The U-shaped connectors that connect
the POWER AMP IN terminals to the front
channel pre outs are not connected.
• Settings route signal away from
subwoofer.
• The MULTI CH IN SELECT is not set
correctly.
• DIRECT mode is selected and one pair of
speakers is set to NO.
• 2 channel input is selected.
• The signal coming from MULTI CH
INPUT jacks isn't selected (for example,
digital PCM is selected, etc.)
• If you are using an analog source, the
signal is too strong.
• Incorrect frequency.
• The antenna is not connected.
• 2 RF and/or digital cables are near the
antenna terminals and wires.
FM broadcasts
• The FM antenna is not fully extended or
is poorly positioned.
• Weak radio signals.
AM broadcasts
• The AM antenna is poorly positioned.
• Weak radio signals.
• Interference caused by other equipment
(fluorescent lamp, motor, etc.).
• There is electrical interference from
another component or appliance.
• The search function performed by the
player interferes with the reading of digital
information.
Techno Tidbits & Problem-solving
Remedy
• Set the SIGNAL SELECT to AUTO (p.51)
(make sure your LD player is hooked up
with analog connections in addition to
digital and 2 RF connections, see p.20).
• Connect the POWER AMP IN terminals
to the front channel pre outs using the
supplied U-shaped connectors (p.34).
• To get more signal to the subwoofer set
it to PLUS or choose SMALL for the front
speakers (p.41-42).
• Select the correct number of input
channels (p.101).
• Switch the setting to ADJUST mode
(p.59).
• Set the MULTI CH INPUT to 8 channel
(p.59).
• Check the MULTI CH INPUT connection
and select the type of playback with the
MULTI CH IN button (p.59).
• Press the INPUT ATT button (p.60).
• If the player has an analog output setting,
lower it as necessary.
• Tune in the correct frequency (p.64).
• Connect the antenna (p.27).
• Route 2 RF and digital cables away
from the antenna terminals and wires.
• Fully extend the FM wire antenna,
position for best reception, and secure to a
wall.
• Connect an outdoor FM antenna (see
p.27).
• Adjust the direction and position for best
reception.
• Connect an additional internal or external
AM antenna (see p.27).
• Turn off the equipment causing the noise
or move it away from the receiver.
• Place the antenna farther away from the
equipment causing the noise.
• Check that personal computers or other
digital components connected to the same
power source are not causing interference.
• This is not a malfunction, but be sure to
turn the volume down to prevent the output
of loud noise from your speakers.
