Hardware

The recommended wiring (the figures below are excerpts from
IEC 61162-2, ed. 1) is as shown on the drawings. The A, B and
C designation correspond with the data signals as shown on
figure on page 55. There may be several listeners (receivers) but
only one talker (transmitter). For long lines we recommend to
use a terminating resistor (120 Ohm between A' and B' at the
receiving end). Avoid stubs or make them as short as possible.
The common wire designated "C" is the signal ground reference
and this wire shall be isolated from the outer shielding. The
outer cable shield shall be continuous (unbroken) through the
installation, but shall not be terminated to any part of the
receiver.
Shielded twisted pair cable with third-wire is shown below. The
common "C" wire may be one wire of a pair of another port's
common connection wire "C", if they have the same destination.
