In addition to the above listed equipment, antenna cables must be included. The total attenuation of
the GPS antenna cable should be less than 10 dB as higher attenuation may degrade the quality and
the accuracy of the position data. The total attenuation factor of the VHF antenna cable should be
less than 3dB for proper operation as higher attenuation will reduce the coverage area of the base
station. The connector kits for both GPS and VHF antenna cables are designed for RG-214 or low-
loss ½" superflexible cables. The order specification determines the connector type included in the
delivery. Connectors for RG-214 cable are delivered if nothing is specified.

Installation procedure

1. Mount the N-connectors on the antenna cables.
2. Check the GPS and VHF cables for short circuit between the centre conductor and shield
(ground).
3. Connect the adapter cable to the GPS antenna. Attach the GPS antenna to the GPS antenna
bracket.
4. Mount the bracket to a mast or railing where the GPS antenna has a clear view of the sky and is
at least 3 meters away from, and out of the transmitting beam of, high power transmitters, see
Figure 2.
Locate the GPS antenna at least 3 meters away from and
out of the transmitting beam of high power transmitters.
