Latin for "twice." Used to distinguish a revised standard or
recommendation from other versions. For example: V.22 bis.

Bits per second. Indicates the rate of data transmission between
devices.
buffer
A storage area used to compensate for differences in data flow
rate when transmitting data from one device to another.
