Symptom – Phones
There is no dial tone
at one or all of the
three PHONE jacks.
The existing (BASE)
phone has dial tone
but does not ring.
You detect noise on a
phone that uses the
same phone number
as the SuperLine IAD.
The phone connected

persists, contact your service provider.
Verify the total Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) of all of
the devices connected to your existing phone number and
the BASE PHONE jack does not exceed 5. REN is normally
specified on a label on the phone, fax machine, or modem.
Verify that every device in your home that uses the same
phone number as the SuperLine IAD has a filter properly
installed (as described on page 4). This may include not
only phones, but answering machines, fax machines,
modems, caller ID display devices, security alarm systems,
TV-based Internet access devices, and direct broadcast
satellite receivers.

Verify that you are not using a 4-wire phone cable for the

cable to connect a device to the PHONE 1/2 jack (unless
you are connecting a 2-line phone as described on page 18).
