Start-up, calibration and operation of the burner

7.1

Notes on safety for the first start-up

The first start-up of the burner must be carried out
by qualified personnel, as indicated in this manual
and in compliance with the standards and regula-
tions of the laws in force.

7.2

Combustion head adjustment

In order to optimise performance, the burner is equipped with a
variable geometry combustion head which operates on the basis
of the delivered output.
The device is connected to the shaft of the servomotor
11)(Fig. 10, page 14) and, by way of leverage, transmits the axial
movement to the cylinder located in the combustion head.
Before starting up the burner, it is advisable to choose the mobile
cylinder stroke on the basis of the maximum output that the burn-
er should deliver, in order to avoid setting a servomotor range
that is too short.
The factory regulation corresponds to the maximum output (cou-
pling position: 3).
Procedure for combustion head adjustment
1 Remove the cover from the burner's air box.
2 With the help of Tab. F establish in which hole of the lever B
the articulated coupling A solidly joined to the shutter
should be inserted.
3 Fix the articulated coupling to the previously established hole.
4 Close the cover

Adjustments prior to ignition (gas)

In addition, the following adjustments must also be made:
 Slowly open the manual valves situated upstream from the
gas train.
 Adjust the minimum gas pressure switch (Fig. 27) to the start
of the scale.
 Adjust the maximum gas pressure switch (Fig. 26) to the end
of the scale.
 Adjust the air pressure switch (Fig. 25) to the start of the
scale.
 Purge the air from the gas line.
We recommend using a plastic tube routed outside the build-
ing and to purge air until gas is smelt.
 Fit a U-type pressure gauge or a differential pressure gauge
(Fig. 21), with socket (+) on the gas pressure of the pipe
coupling and (-) in the combustion chamber.
The manometer readings are used to calculate MAX burner
output.
 Connect two lamps or testers to the two gas line solenoids to
check the exact moment in which voltage is supplied.
This operation is unnecessary if each of the two solenoid
valves is equipped with a pilot light that signals voltage pass-
ing through.
Start-up, calibration and operation of the burner
Check the correct working of the adjustment, com-
mand and safety devices.

Before starting up the burner, it is good practice to
adjust the gas train so that ignition takes place in
conditions of maximum safety, i.e. with gas deliv-
