The red data/digital interface uses aDtype, 25-pin female RS-232C
compatible DCE connection that provides the Red Switch or other
ERC with the capability to secure digital voice and data
transmissions (see Figure 3-2). The red digital interface may be
configured for either red digital data or red digital voice operation.
Table 3-4 characterizes the signals on this interface.
Red Digital Data
Secure data can be transmitted to STU-HI equipments using STU-
III encryption or to another STU-HI/R or STU-HI/A using STU-II
Net encryption.
