The battery should be replaced by the following procedure. To
reduce the risk of fire or injury to persons, read and follow these
i n s t r u c t i o n s :
C A U T I O N
Use only the following type and size battery -3volt 1/3 N
L i t h i u m
Do not dispose of the battery in afire. The cell may explode.
Check with local codes for possible special disposal
i n s t r u c t i o n s .
Do not open or mutilate the battery. Released electrolyte is
corrosive and may cause damage to the eyes or skin. It may be
toxic if swallowed.
Exercise care in handling batteries in order not to short the
battery with conducting materials such as rings, bracelets, and
keys. The battery or conductor may overheat and cause burns.

Battery replacement procedure:
C A U T I O N
Removal of the battery while the STU-IIIIR is unpowered will
result in aloss of all keying material in the STU-IIIIR.
Ensure that the STU-III/R is powered and the ONLINE
i n d i c a t o r i s o f f

Remove the battery compartment screws using aflatblade
s c r e w d r i v e r .

Use screwdriver to remove battery from battery holder (see
Figure 7-1).
Install the new battery into the battery holder, paying careful
attention to the battery polarity.
