The status LED -3- is lit red after ignition is switched on.
When successfully activated after the communication profile has
been downloaded (this may take up to 15 minutes or even longer,
depending on GPS and GSM signal strength), the colour of the
status LED -3- changes from red to green.
If the status LED -3- is green, the ERA Glonass system is activa‐
ted.
Each time the ignition key is disconnect and the ignition is then
switched on, the status LED lights up red and then, after approx.
5 seconds, switches to green.
Caution
After successful activation, connect the ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic
tester and read out the SIM ID number in the SIM card block
using the "Measured value blocks" (address 0075 - read meas‐
ured values) of the control unit for emergency call module and
communication unit - J949- . You must record this number
(nine digits) on the customer order. The customer should then
be informed that he/she must notify the road traffic authority
that the control unit for emergency call module and communi‐
cation unit - J949- has been replaced and provide the authority
with the above SIM ID number to be entered in the vehicle da‐
tabase.
If the status LED is still red even after 20 minutes since ignition
was switched on:
Connect ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester and then:
♦ Read out the signal strength of the GSM and GPS network
(address 0075 - read measured values)
♦ Check that the components and communication are function‐
ing and query the event memory

If reception is too weak or there is no GPS or GSM reception:
– Change vehicle location (e.g. go to open area with undisrupted
reception).
In the event of an error:
– Repair/replace the defective system component.
After changing the vehicle location or after repair is complete:
– Remove ignition key for approx. 2 minutes (for vehicles with
interface for entry and start system, switch off ignition and
open the driver's door for at least 5 seconds).
– Switch on the ignition and check colour of the status LED
again, as follows:
• The status LED of the ERA Glonass system must be green at
the latest within approx. 15 minutes after ignition is switched
on.
If the status LED of the ERA Glonass system is still red even after
15 minutes since the ignition was switched on:
– Create a DISS ticket (a technical repair request, DISS mes‐
sage) and send it to the Technical Service Centre (TSC).
