SE5. PRESSURE TEST OF THE COOKING COMPARTMENT (DB)
Whilst a pressure test carried out at fixed intervals is not
compulsory, the operator should have a pressure test
carried out periodically in the interest of troublefree
operation and safety. The pressure test is done with cold
water taken from the water main. Ensure that the
pressure chamber is filled completely (no air pockets).
Connection
Disconnected the appliance from the power supply.
Remove the cover and the left sidewall in accordance
with §5. Remove the drain deaerator (square tube fitted
to the back of the appliance), i.e. open the screwed joint
of the drain outlet (AA) and remove the hose or pipe
connection at the top. Fit a well-sealing ¾" cap to the
outlet side of the safety valve (SV). Prepare a hose (SC)
that is fitted with a fine stopcock (AH), a bypass valve
(BH), a pressure gauge (MM) and an external safety
valve or pressure-reducing valve (DV) (limiting pressure 2
bar) and is screwed to the appliance drain (AA). Connect
the hose to the water main (WN). Close the door and lock
it.
Filling
Open the stopcock (AH) and fill the cooking compartment
with water. When doing this, the air must be let out by
pressing in the protruding button on the aeration valve
(BE). Please note that the pressure in the compartment
(DB), which is completely full of water, can rise very
quickly when more water is added at a higher pressure.
The pressure rise must be done very slowly and carefully
so as not to damage the vessel.
Test
Build up pressure in the compartment by slowly opening
the tap (AH) and then closing it again when the test
pressure is reached. Test pressure = max. 1.95 bar (max.
operating overpressure 1.3 ± 10% bar). The reading is
taken using the appliance's operating pressure gauge.
The test pressure must be maintained for 10 minutes.
During this period, please note the following: Can the
pressure be maintained? Does it collapse? Is there a leak
anywhere? If a fault is found during the pressure test, it
must be attended to and remedied immediately.
Report
At the end of the pressure test, the service engineer must
compile a report on the pressure vessel concerned with
the following specific details.
Service Manual Pressure Steamer
After the test
Pressure in the vessel (DB) is dissipated by opening the
bypass valve (BH) and the hose (SC) with the pressure
gauge (MM) and external safety valve or pressure
reduction valve (DV) can be removed. The cooking
compartment is emptied via the drain (AA). Air can enter
via the aeration valve (BE).
The appliance is then returned to its original state.
