valve
clearance
for
reference in shim
selection
if
adjustment is
required.

!NSPECTION
lnstallthe
slide pin stopper (page 3-7).
Remove the
timing
hole cap and O-ring.
Turn
the
crankshaft clockwise, align the
"'lT"
mark
[1]
on the CKP sensor
rotor
with the
index
mark
[2] on the
right crankcase cover.
Make sure that
the No.
1 piston
is
at TDC (Top
Dead
Center) on the compression stroke by checking the cam
sprockets
position as
shown
in
the figure.
lf
not,
rotate
the crankshaft clockwise one full turn
and
realign
the
"1T" mark with
the
index mark.
Check the valve
clearance
for the No.
1
cylinder
intake
and exhaust valves by inserting
a
feeler
gauge
between
the
valve
lifter and the cam lobe.

Turn the crankshaft clockwise

Check the valve clearance for

No. 3 cylinder.
Turn
the crankshaft clockwise

rotor
with the
index mark
on
the
right crankcase cover.
Check the valve clearance for
the
No. 2 cylinder.
Turn the crankshaft clockwise

rotor
with the
index mark
on
the
right crankcase cover.
Check the valve clearance for
the
No. 4 cylinder.
