Driving the vehicle

The following procedures
should be observed to ensure
safe driving:
Driving procedure
Before starting the hybrid sys-
tem
Check that the AC charging cable is
disconnected. (P.135)

Driving

With the brake pedal depressed,
shift the shift lever to D.

Release the parking brake.

If the parking brake is in automatic
mode, the parking brake will be
released automatically. (P.321)

Gradually release the brake
pedal and gently depress the
accelerator pedal to accelerate
the vehicle.
Stopping
With the shift lever in D, depress

the brake pedal.

If necessary, set the parking
brake. (P.320)
If the vehicle is to be stopped for an
extended period of time, shift the shift
lever to P. (P.315)
Parking the vehicle

With the shift lever in D, depress
the brake pedal.

Set the parking brake. (P.320)
Make sure the parking brake indicator
light is on.

Shift the shift lever to P.

Do not press the shift release button
after shifting the shift position to P.

Turn the power switch to OFF to
stop the hybrid system.

Lock the door, making sure that
you have the key on your per-
son.
If parking on a hill, block the wheels as
needed.
Starting off on a steep uphill

set the parking brake manually.
