Preheating and Pan P/acement
Preheat the oven if die recipe calls R_rit.
Preheating
is necessa, y fbr good results
when baking cakes, cookies, pasu y and
breads.
To preheat, s et theoven at thecorrect t emperature.
Thecontrolwill beepwhentheovenis preheated
andthedisplaywifl showyourset temperature.
The preheattimewill varydepending on the
temperature s etting.
Baking results will be better if baldng
pans are cenmred in die oven _s much
as possible. If baking with more than one
pan, place the pans so each has at least 1"
(2.5 cm) to 1½" (3.8 cm) of air space
around it.
Aluminum Foil
Donotusealuminum foilon thebottomof
theoven.
Never entirely cover a rack widl
altlI_t:dntlI_ct foil. Tiffs will disturb the heat
circulation and result in poor baking.
A smaller
sheet
of foil may be used to
catch a spillover
by placing
it on a lower
rock several inches below
the food.
Oven Moisture
As your
oven
beats
up, file temperature
change of the air in the oven may cause
wamr droplets to form on the door glass.
These droplets are harmless and will
evaporate
as the
oven
contintles
to
heat up.
Oven Vent
Your oven is vented duough
one vent
locamd toward the rear of the range. Do
not block this vent when cooking in the
oven--it is important
that the flow of hot
air flom
the
oven
and
flesh
air to the
oven burner be uninmrrupmd.
Avoid
touching the vent openings or nearby
surfaces duringovenor broileroperation--
theymay becomehot.
Handles of potsandpansonthecooktop may
become hot if left toocloseto the vent.
Donotleaveplasticitemson theco&top
theymaymelt if left toocloseto thevent
Donotleaveanyitemson thecooktop. T hehot
air fromthe ventmayigniteflammable items
andwill increase pressure in closedcontainers,
whichmaycausethemtoburst
Metal itemswifl become veryhotif theyare
left on thecooktop, a ndcouldcause bums.
Power Outage
A CAUTiON: onotmakeany
attemptto operatetheelectricignitionoven
duringanelectrical p owerfailure.
The oven or broiler
cannot
be lit during
a power fhilure. (;as will not flow unless
the glow bar is hot.
If die oven is in use when a power
fhilure occms, die oven burner shuts
off and cannot be ,edit until power is
restored. This is because the flow of gas
is automaOcaUy stopped and will not
resume when power is restored until
the glow bar has reached operating
temperature.
