3.5.2 Attaching the Cassette
Obtain a new, filled Medication Cassette
Set attached to a nonvented fluid container. Refer to the instructions for use
supplied with the product for preparing the product for use.
Ensure that the fluid path tubing is closed with the clamp.

Insert the cassette hooks into the hinge pins on the pump and place the pump
•
upright on a firm, flat surface.
®
Press down on the pump so the cas-
•
sette fits tightly against the bottom of
the pump. Lock the cassette in place
by inserting a coin into the slot in the
locking button, pushing the button
in; and then turn the coin one-quarter
turn counterclockwise until a definite
stop is felt.
Gently twist and pull on the cassette

to make sure it is firmly attached.
WARNING:
It is essential that you attach the cassette properly. When you attach the cassette
properly, the coin slot of the locking button aligns w ith the arrow on the side
of the pump case. If you do not attach the cassette properly, an uncontrolled flow
of medication from the fluid container or a reflux of blood may result, w hich
could result in death or serious injury to the patient.
To protect against unregulated gravity infusion that can result from an
improperly attached cassette, a CADD
®
or a CADD
Administration Set w ith either an integral or Add O n Anti-Siphon
Valve must be used.
