7. Life of SSD

1. About write endurance

SSD contained in product has a write endurance which limits the number of times each memory may
be written, due to the characteristic of the memory that is used. Write endurance can be calculated
by the following formula as a reference value:
Write endurance (years) =
Total capacity (cycles) / (The number of annual consumed blocks / The total number of blocks)
MLC type
Example :
If a 4 MB file is created on the SSD-64GS-2M and is rewritten once every 10 seconds:
The number of annual consumed blocks = (4 x (60 / 10) x 60 x 24 x 365) / 16 = 788,400 (blocks)
Life = 3,000 / (788,400 / 4,096) ≈ 15.6 (years)
For other capacities, replace the number of annual consumed blocks and the total number of blocks
as indicated below.
[SSD-32GS-2MP] Number of annual consumed blocks: 1,576,800; Total number of blocks: 4,096
[SSD-128GS-2MP] Number of annual consumed blocks: 788,400; Total number of blocks: 8,192
[SSD-256GS-2MP] Number of annual consumed blocks: 788,400; Total number of blocks: 16,384

Example :
If a 4 MB file is created on the SSD-128GS-2TP and is rewritten once every 10 seconds:
The number of annual consumed blocks = (4 x (60 / 10) x 60 x 24 x 365) / 18 = 700,800 (blocks)
Life = 3,000 / (700,800 / 7,200) ≈ 30.82 (years)
For other capacities, replace the number of annual consumed blocks and the total number of blocks
as indicated below.

[SSD-512GS-2TP] Number of annual consumed blocks: 70,800; Total number of blocks: 28,800

The life endurance is reference values under a certain condition. For the actual life, install the
dedicated software (*) and write with the estimated actual operation, and check the SMART value.
