Battery Use and Maintenance
Precautions for safely working
on the battery
The truck must be parked correctly before car-
rying out work on the battery.
Fire prevention measures
 Do not smoke or use open flames around
the battery.
 Flammable substances and work equip-
ment that may produce sparks must not be
placed within 2 metres around the truck to
be charged.
 The work location must have good ventila-
tion.
 Fire-fighting equipment must be prepared.
Preventing electric shock
Take note of the following two points for bat-
teries with high voltage and power:
 Do not create a short-circuit.
 Keep tools away from the battery poles to
prevent sparks or short circuits.
NOTE
Metal or conductive objects must not be
placed on top of the battery to prevent the bat-
tery from short circuiting.

Battery charging

Charging precautions
 The truck must be parked in a well-ventila-
ted room.
 There must be no metal parts on the sur-
face of the battery.
 Before starting charging, check all cable
connections and plug connectors for obvi-
ous damage.
