Cannot install/uninstall/use the driver

Check with the driver installed on the computer
If you can't use the UM-1 even though you've installed the driver, the driver might not be
installed correctly. Use the following procedure to check.
1.
Start Windows with all USB cables including the UM-1(but not the mouse or keyboard)
disconnected.
2.
Connect the USB cable of the UM-1 to your computer.
3.
Open the "Control Panel" and double-click "System."
4.
Click the [Device Manager] tab, and double-click "Sound, video and game controllers."
5.
Does the display show "Roland UM-1 USB Driver? "
If this is not displayed, refer to step 5 and following of ' Does the "Device Manager" show
"? Composite USB Device," "? USB Device," "! USB Device," or "USB Composite
Device"?' (p. 28).
If this display appears, but a yellow "!" or red "x" is attached, refer to step 7 and following
of 'Does the "Device Manager" show a yellow "!" or red "x" for the "Roland UM-1 USB
Driver"?' (p. 29).
If there is no problem with the display but the UM-1 cannot be used, refer to "Is the UM-1
MIDI device name displayed?" (p. 30).
Does the "Device Manager" show "? Composite USB Device," "? USB Device,"
"! USB Device," or "USB Composite Device"?
If the installation was not performed according to the procedure specified in "Installing the
USB MIDI Driver" (p. 15), the UM-1 will not be correctly recognized by Windows, and will
not operate.
Use the following procedure to re-install the driver.
1.
Start Windows with all USB cables including the UM-1(but not the mouse or keyboard)
disconnected.
2.
Connect the USB cable of the UM-1 to your computer.
3.
