Installing the USB MIDI Driver
1.
Start Windows with all USB cables including the UM-1 (but not the mouse or keyboard)
disconnected.
2.
Exit all applications before performing the installation.
3.
Insert the UM-1 Driver CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
4.
Click the Windows [Start] button, and select "Run..."
5.
When "Run" appears, input the following in the "Open" area.
* Change the drive name D: to match the drive name of your CD-ROM drive. For example if
your CD-ROM drive is named Q:, you would input "Q:\WIN98\SETUPINF.EXE".
* If you do not know the name of the drive, click the [Browse] button to check the drive
name.
6.
After inputting the information, click the [OK] button.
* If a message saying that the file was not found appears, check the character string input in
the "Open" area once more.
7.
The "SETUPINF" dialog box will appear, and the display will indicate "Ready to install
driver. ---"
8.
Connect the USB cable of the UM-1 to your computer.
* If the "Add New Hardware Wizard" is displayed, refer to 'The "Add New Hardware
Wizard" is displayed during the installation procedure.' (p. 30)
9.
In some cases, the "Insert Disk" dialog box may appear. Click [OK].
10.
The "New Hardware Found" dialog box will appear. In the "Copy files from" area, input
"D:\WIN98" and click the [OK] button. Installation will be completed.
* Change the drive name D: to match the drive name of your CD-ROM drive. For example if
your CD-ROM drive is named Q:, you would input "Q:\WIN98".
* If this dialog box does not appear, refer to 'The "Insert Disk" dialog box is not displayed in
"Installing the USB MIDI Driver".' (p. 30)
* If you were not able to perform the installation according to this procedure, use the
procedure in "Tried other troubleshooting tips but the UM-1 still does not work" (p. 32) to
delete the driver, and then perform the installation once again.
11.
As described in "Before you begin" (p. 16), make settings so that the UM-1 can be used. The
UM-1 cannot be used unless these settings are made.
