CLEANING THE GRYPHON™ COIN CHANGER
Instructions for cleaning the coin changer's components are outlined in this section.

Recommended Cleaning Aids

Do not use these items for cleaning:
Flammable cleaning agents, such as petroleum-based products.
Solvents or abrasive agents. These items will damage the device.
Only use recommended cleaning aids below.
Microfiber cloth
Cleaning wipes
Cotton swabs
Lukewarm water, as directed
Cotton balls
Small brush or toothbrush
Compressed air

Cleaning the Coin Path

Passing coins can leave residues while traveling through the validator. These residues
should be cleaned from time to time for optimal operation (roughly once a year or when
indicated by the MMI).
Steps
Turn OFF power to vending machine before cleaning coin changer.
Risk of electric shock, electrostatic discharge, and machine/component damage.
1. Turn OFF power to vending machine.
2. Open validator assembly at the coin entry and hold it open.
3. Remove any debris from the validation and sorting area. Dust off any
accumulation with a small brush or compressed air.
4. Clean the coin path with a damp cloth.
5. Close the validator assembly.
6. Remove the cassette. Check for and remove debris.

Cleaning the Sorting Control

1. Follow the steps above, then unlatch the validator assembly and remove it from the
changer.
2. Detach rear coin validator cover.
3. Slightly pull apart the bottom frame of the validator on both sides, separating the
lower snap in hooks from the bottom to the top.
4. Check cover prism for dirt. Clean prism from the inside using a soft, dry cloth or
cotton ball.
5. Check both sides of the sorting control for dirt.
6. Clean diodes using a soft, dry cloth or cotton ball.
