Safety information

Danger due to electrical current
Check whether the existing line voltage corresponds to that specified on the nameplate of the
device, to the technical specifications and to the test certificate valid for your country.
Danger due to electrical current
The power supply cable to be connected at the customer location could be damaged by
incorrect fitting in the device.
Before starting up the device, you should carry out a visual inspection and PE conductor test of
the cable in accordance with the country-specific safety standards, regulations or other
applicable directives. Because part of the cable is in the device, always keep to the product
safety standard IEC/EN 61010-1 or its national equivalent.
Unsuitable cable and/or cable glands
Danger of explosion in hazardous areas.
Only use appropriate cable and cable glands complying with the requirements specified in
Chapter →Technical specifications (Page 73).
• Tighten the cable glands in accordance with the torques specified in Chapter →Technical
• When replacing cable glands, only use ones of the same type.
• After installation check that the cable is seated firmly.
Lack of equipotential bonding
Danger of explosion through compensating currents or ignition currents through lack of
equipotential bonding.
• Make sure that equipotential bonding exists for the device.
Exception: It may be permissible to omit connection of the equipotential bonding for devices
with type of protection "Intrinsic safety Ex i".
