Check the NIC LED as described in "Link LED" in
Chapter 2.
Check the connectors. Examine the cable for obvious
signs of damage, wear, or crimping.
Check whether the NIC is installed correctly. Refer to
Chapter 2, "Installing the 3C509B NIC."

network operating system you are running (refer to
Chapter 3, "Installing the Network Drivers").
