General troubleshooting
Always start troubleshooting with the checklists below if faults occur after startup or
during operation. The checklists take you directly (via various queries) to the cause of the
problem and the appropriate remedial measures.
Due to its design, the device cannot be repaired. However, it is possible to send the
device in for examination. See the information in the "Return" section. →  32

Application errors without status messages for RTD sensor connection
Problem
Measured value is incorrect/
inaccurate
Failure current (≤ 3.6 mA or
≥ 21 mA)
Possible cause
Supply voltage does not match the
voltage specified on the nameplate.
Connecting cables are not in contact
with the terminals.
Electronics unit is defective.
Signal line is not wired correctly.
Electronics unit is defective.
Missing or incorrectly installed
communication resistor.
Commubox is connected incorrectly.
Commubox is not set to "HART®".
Possible cause
Incorrect sensor orientation.
Heat conducted by sensor.
Device programming is incorrect
(number of wires).
Device programming is incorrect
(scaling).
Incorrect RTD configured.
Sensor connection.
The cable resistance of the sensor (2-
wire) was not compensated.
Offset incorrectly set.
Faulty sensor.
iTEMP TMT182B
Remedy
Check the voltage at the transmitter
directly using a voltmeter and correct.
Ensure electrical contact between the
cable and the terminal.
Replace the device.
Check wiring.
Replace the device.
Install the communication resistor (250
Ω) correctly.
Connect Commubox correctly.
Set Commubox selector switch to
"HART®".
Remedy
Install the sensor correctly.
Observe the installed length of the
sensor.
Change the Connection type device
function.
Change scaling.
Change the Sensor type device function.
Check that the sensor is connected
correctly.
Compensate the cable resistance.
Check offset.
Check the sensor.
