7. Notes on Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries

• Keep batteries/rechargeable batteries out of reach of children.
• Always observe correct polarity (positive/+ and negative/-) when inserting
the batteries/rechargeable batteries.
• Do not let batteries/rechargeable batteries lie around openly. There is the
risk of batteries being swallowed by children or pets. In such case, seek
immediate medical care!
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries might cause acid
burns when getting into contact with skin. Therefore, use suitable protective
gloves.
• Make sure that batteries/rechargeable batteries are not short-circuited,
dismantled or thrown into fire. They might explode!
• Conventional batteries must not be recharged. Risk of explosion! Only
charge rechargeable batteries intended for this purpose.
• If the device is not used for a longer period of time (e.g. in case of storage),
remove the inserted batteries/rechargeable batteries. Old batteries/re-
chargeable batteries might leak and thus might cause damages to the
product.
• Always replace the whole set of batteries/rechargeable batteries. Only use
batteries/rechargeable batteries of the same type, by the same manufac-
turer and of the same charging state (do not mix full batteries with half-full
or empty batteries/rechargeable batteries).
• Never mix batteries and rechargeable batteries.
• For the environmentally friendly disposal of batteries and rechargeable
batteries, please read the chapter "Disposal".

In general, it is possible to operate the product with rechargeable batteries.
However, due to the lower voltage of rechargeable batteries (rechargeable
battery = 1.2V, battery = 1.5V) and the lower capacity, the operating time is
reduced.
This is why we especially recommend the use of high-quality alkaline batteries
in order to ensure a long and safe service life.
The room thermostat is supplied by means of two batteries of type AA/Mignon
(e.g. Conrad item number 650117, to be ordered twice).
