Hitachi Gigabit Router GR2000-B Series Installation Guide
(6) Electromagnetic Interference
Using high-frequency or electrically-noisy machinery around the router can cause
reliability problems. The GR2000-B itself also emits weak high-frequency noise,
which could affect television, radio, and transceivers situated within 30 m of it.
(7) Animals
Ensure that all cables connected to the router are armored or otherwise protected so
that rodents or other cable-eating beasties do not gnaw them through.
(8) Spray of Chemical Agents
Protect a router from a spray of pesticide or antiseptic by covering it when treating a
room where it is located.
(9) Seismic Considerations
If the unit is to be installed where there is a chance of earthquakes, ensure that the
router, as well as any other cabinet or rack into which it is placed, is securely
anchored. Failure to consider the effects of a strong earthquake can result in damage
to the unit and physical injury to anyone nearby.
Caution:
*
2-6
The actual vibration inflicted upon a router during an earthquake can be
intensified by the architecture of the building and floor where the unit is
located. Generally it is said that the vibration felt on the fifth floor and up in a
nine-story building is intensified by two to three times what we would feel on
the ground. In a moderate to strong earthquake, this can cause racks to
overturn and unanchored equipment to bounce along the floor.
