Operations and Maintenance Procedures (TOP)
NOTE:
The turnup procedures do not include power or ringing equipment. Refer to
the vendor's documentation for procedures on turning up the power and
ringing equipment.
NOTE:
A craft interface terminal (CIT) is required when turning up the SONET
subsystem to clear alarms associated with installing the ARM shelf circuit
packs and to turn up a Release 3.1 and later system.
The acceptance procedures verify that the equipment is not damaged (visual
inspection), power is present, and fuses can be installed without blowing. These
procedures also test the cooling (fan) shelf before turning up the system.
The ARM shelf turnup procedures are used to install and test circuit packs in the
ARM shelf to establish an end-to-end SONET OC-3/OC-12 or metallic feeder
subsystem. These procedures must be done before MDS assembly turnup or
before circuit order procedures are started .
The MDS assembly turnup procedures are used to install and test common circuit
packs in the MDS assembly and to establish the DLC subsystems end-to-end
after the SONET or metallic feeder subsystem has been turned up end-to-end for
either metallic or fiber distribution.
The circuit order procedures are used to supply, change, or disconnect customer
services and system configurations.
The trouble-clearing procedures are used when alarms are present to clear
system troubles.
The detailed level (support) procedures (DLPs) provide detailed instructions to
perform a task.
The channel unit installation procedures provide detailed instructions to install and
test channel units. The procedures to establish FITL systems are also in this
section. This includes equipping the high density optics shelf (HDOS), installing
distant terminal (DT) Servers in a metallic distribution shelf, and verifying the
connection to the DT.
