At the UIP, execute the RETRIEVE-FAULTS command and look for an ls-a-x

VTU being replaced?
If YES, then continue with Step 7.
If NO, go to Step 8.

Replace the circuit pack. Wait for the pack to install and initialize and
associated faults to clear. If new faults appear, return to TAP-101 and clear the
new faults.
STOP. YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCEDURE.
8.
Is VTU-8 protecting any other VTU?
If YES, then the condition requiring the protection of the other pack
If NO, continue with Step 9.
9.
Replace the failed VTU as shown in Table A.

Switch the VTU to be replaced to protection using the SONET CIT
switch-ls command with the address of the VTU to be switched
and the priority FORCED.
2.
Replace the circuit pack. Wait for the pack to install and initialize.
3.
When the faults for the replaced pack clear, re-enable protection
switching with the SONET CIT switch-ls command. Use the
address of the replaced circuit pack and the priority RESET.
4.
If new faults appear, return to TAP-101 and clear the new faults.
STOP. YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCEDURE.

TAP-101 and clear the condition.
