Vehicles with a diesel engine and incor‐
rect fuelling protector against refuelling
with petrol: the filler neck is designed for
refuelling at diesel filling pumps for
passenger vehicles.
% Vehicles with a diesel engine without an
incorrect fuelling protector: refuelling pre‐
ferred at diesel filling pumps for passenger
vehicles. However, you can also refuel at a
diesel filling pump for lorries.

If the fuel tank has been run completely dry,
top up with at least 5 l of fuel.

Vehicles that can use a mixture of fuels can
be recognised by the sticker "Ethanol up to
E85!" on the fuel filler flap.

®
AdBlue is a water-soluble fluid for the exhaust
gas aftertreatment of diesel engines. In order for
the exhaust gas aftertreatment to function prop‐

erly, only use AdBlue
ISO 22241.
Possible causes/consequences and
The fuel line or the fuel tank is faulty.
Turn the key to position g in the ignition lock immediately and

remove it.
Do not restart the engine under any circumstances.

Consult a qualified specialist workshop.
#
The fuel tank has been run completely dry.
Refuel the vehicle.
#
Before starting the engine: switch on the ignition three or four times.
#
Turn the key to position 2 in the ignition lock.
#
The % preglow indicator lamp in the instrument cluster lights up
briefly.
Once the % preglow indicator lamp goes out, turn the key to posi‐

tion 3 in the ignition lock and release it as soon as the engine is
running.
You can start the diesel engine without preglow when the engine is
warm.
