Information about driving abroad
Service
An extensive Mercedes-Benz service is also avail‐
able abroad. Nevertheless, please remember that
services or spare parts may not be available
immediately. The relevant workshop directories
are available from a Mercedes-Benz Service
Centre.
Fuel
In some countries, only fuels with an increased
sulphur content are available.
Unsuitable fuel can cause engine damage. You
can find further information under "Fuel"
(
page 337).

®
AdBlue
®
AdBlue
is not available in sufficient quality in all
countries. Therefore, check the AdBlue
particularly before driving outside Europe
(
page 153). Consult a qualified specialist
/
workshop for advice.
You can find information about AdBlue
ating fluids and capacities" (
Low beam
In countries in which traffic drives on the oppo‐
site side of the road from the country in which
the vehicle is registered, you will have to switch
the headlamps to symmetrical dipped beam. This
will prevent oncoming traffic from being dazzled.
Symmetrical dipped beam will no longer illumi‐
nate the edge of the carriageway as far or as
high.
Vehicles with halogen headlamps:
It is not necessary to change the headlamps over
to symmetrical dipped beam. The statutory
requirements of the countries in which traffic
drives on the opposite side of the road from the
country in which the vehicle is registered are also
met without changing over.
Vehicles with LED headlamps:
You can set the low beam for driving on the right
or left via the on-board computer (
Information about transport by rail
Transporting your vehicle by rail may be subject
to certain restrictions or require special meas‐
ures to be taken in some countries due to varying
tunnel heights and loading standards.
You can obtain information about this from a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.

Information on brakes
& WARNING Risk of skidding and of an
accident due to shifting down on slippery
road surfaces
If you shift down on slippery road surfaces to
increase the engine braking effect, the drive
wheels may lose traction.
Do not shift down on slippery road sur‐
#
faces to increase the engine braking
effect.
& WARNING Risk of accident due to the
brake system overheating
If you leave your foot on the brake pedal
when driving, the brake system may overheat.
This increases the braking distance and the
brake system may even fail.
Never use the brake pedal as a footrest.
#
Do not depress the brake pedal and the
#
accelerator pedal at the same time
while driving.
* NOTE Causing wear to the brake linings
by permanently depressing the brake
pedal
Do not permanently depress the brake
#
pedal while driving.
To use braking effect of the engine, shift
#
to a lower gear in good time.
Downhill gradients
On long and steep downhill gradients you should
observe the following instructions:
in vehicles with an automatic transmission,
R
shift down to shift ranges 2 or 1 in good time
so that the engine is running at a medium to
high engine speed (
in vehicles with a manual transmission, shift
R
down to a lower gear in good time, so that the
engine is running at a medium to high engine
speed.
%
Change the shift range in good time when
cruise control or the limiter are activated.
Observe the driving tips (
You thereby make use of the braking effect of the
engine and do not have to brake as often to main‐
tain the speed. This relieves the load on the
page 146).
