Important safety instructions
The scanner is designed to meet stringent safety standards. However, all electrical equipment
requires proper use and maintenance, particularly with regard to human safety.
It is vital that you read, note, and where applicable strictly observe all safety notices and safety
symbols on the scanner.
It is vital that you follow strictly all safety instructions under the heading SAFETY and all
WARNINGS and CAUTIONS throughout this manual, to help ensure the safety of users and to
prevent misuse.
In particular, you must read, understand and know the emergency procedure described in this
'Safety' section before attempting to use the equipment.

Emergency procedure

In case of emergency, unplug the AC power cord from the power outlet.
NOTICE
Make sure that the power outlet and mains plug are easily accessible at all times.

Electrical and mechanical safety

WARNING
Do not remove covers or cables from this equipment.
Covers and cables should only be removed by a qualified and authorized service engineer.
Precision instrument
The scanner is a precision instrument that must be treated with care and in accordance with its
instructions for use. External shocks, vibrations as well as incorrect handling can reduce the
performance and/or life time expectancy of the scanner.
Do not use the scanner if maintenance or troubleshooting actions are required, e.g.:
• A slide has been dropped inside the scanner and you are not sure the dropped slide has
been removed completely.
• A part of the scanner is known to be defective or wrongly-adjusted.
