When the store door is unlocked and opened, users can add or remove racks from the store.

Users can start the scanning process by closing the store door.

Users can open the maintenance door after releasing the door lock to access the handler and

stage for cleaning and troubleshooting purposes.

• The handler transports the individual slides from the rack(s) in the store to the stage for

scanning and vice versa. To enable fast slide transport, the handler is equipped with two

grippers: one gripper is used to pick a slide from the store and place it on the stage, the

other gripper is simultaneously used to pick a slide from the stage and to return it to the

store.

For troubleshooting purposes, users can open the handler door to access the grippers. To

avoid discharge of static electricity, use an antistatic wristband connected to the ESD

bonding point when opening the handler door.

• The stage is located behind the maintenance door and the shutter. Slides on the stage are

transported to the camera area. First a low resolution image of the slide including the slide

label is made. Then the line scan camera creates the high resolution image of the tissue

area(s).

• For troubleshooting purposes, users can use the shutter knob to manually open the shutter

and access the stage. To avoid discharge of static electricity, use an antistatic wristband

connected to the ESD bonding point when opening the shutter.

• Users can use the slide pick-up tool and the slide retrieval tool to remove slides or glass

parts from the stage and stage area.
