2-2-9. Printing paper presence/absence sensor failure

Printing paper presence/absence
sensor failure
Is FFC connecting CN1002 on the
MA-201 board and CN501 on the
KY-763 board connected correctly?
Yes
Check if the following connections
are connected correctly.
MA-201 board and SW-1703 board
SW-1703 board and SE-1142 board
SE-1142 board and SE-1143 board
Yes
When the door is opened and then closed with
no paper loaded, do the voltage at pin 7
(PP_EMP_SENS) of CN1001 on the MA-201
board and the voltage at pin 7 (PP_EMP_SENS)
of CN907 on the SW-1703 board drop to near
0 V once, and then rise to 3.3 V?
Yes
When the door is closed after the paper is loaded,
do the voltage at pin 7 (PP_EMP_SENS) of
CN1001 on the MA-201 board and the voltage at
pin 7 (PP_EMP_SENS) of CN907 on the SW-1703
board remain 3.3 V?
Yes
When the door is opened and then
closed with no paper loaded, does the
voltage at pin 14 (AD_PAPER_SENS)
of CN1002 on the MA-201 board drop
to near 0 V once, and then rise to 3.3 V?
Yes
When the door is closed after the paper is
loaded, is one low pulse of approx. 2 V or more
output from 3.3 V at pin 14 (AD_PAPER_SENS)
of CN1002 on the MA-201 board, and then does
the voltage rise to 3.3 V?
Yes
Replace the MA-201 board.
(Refer to Section 3-8.)
UP-D898DC
Measure the signal voltage using the device such as an oscilloscope.
The sensor LED emits light intermittently and the measuring voltage varies High/Low. Use the value
measured when the voltage is low for determination.
FFC: Flexible flat cable
Connect FFC correctly. If the
No
symptom persists, replace FFC.
(Refer to Section 5.)
No
Check the connection and replace
the defective parts.
Is the pulse of 5 V amplitude
No
output at pin 1 of CN1001 on the
MA-201 board and pin 1 of CN907
on the SW-1703 board?
Yes
Replace the SE-1142 board or
SE-1143 board.
(Refer to Section 3-2 or 3-3.)
No
Replace the SE-1143 board.
(Refer to Section 3-3.)
When the door is closed, is a
No
voltage of 3.3 V output at pins 15
and 16 of CN1002 on the MA-201
board?
Yes
Replace the KY-763 board or
SE-1143 board.
(Refer to Section 3-4 or 3-3.)
No
Replace the KY-763 board.
(Refer to Section 3-4.)
Replace the MA-201 board or
No
SW-1703 board.
(Refer to Section 3-8 or 3-7.)
No
Replace the MA-201 board.
(Refer to Section 3-8.)
