Handling the boat. Considerations when operating the boat General considerations When you drive your boat, always follow the rules of navigation and the requirements of the Convention of International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREG). Going out in a motorboat involves a responsibility, not just to those on board but also to others we meet on the water. Showing consideration for others makes boating comfortable.

  • Page 40: When Leaving The Jetty

When driving at high speed Although Eelex 8000 has passed the CE requirements for swerve tests at full speed, we do not recommend making sharp turns at high speed. When exceeding a certain speed limit passengers may loose footing or grip and be thrown from the boat.
  • Page 41: When Driving In Rough Seas

Avoid sudden steering maneuvers at high speeds. • The turning radius is affected by the direction of rotation of the propeller. The propeller of Eelex 8000 is right-handed, which results in a smaller turning radius to port than to starboard.

  • Page 44: Towing Advice

    • Fenders and mooring lines must be in place, at lease one line fore and one aft. See Fastening points and strongpoint, page 43. • If possible, have someone on the foredeck that can go ashore and quickly turn the bow in the desired direction after the boat has stopped completely.

  • Page 48 • Capacity and dimensions of the trailer must be sufficient to carry the boat and its load. • There must be enough support to distribute the weight of the boat properly without excessive point loads. • The trailer must be in good condition. If there is bilge water, drain it.
  • Page 49: System Overviews

System overviews. Self-draining system Your boat is equipped with a self-draining system with gullies in the forward deck and the aft deck. The system is intended to drain water from, for example, rain, splashing, and breaking waves, during normal use of the boat. It is important to make sure the water gullies do not clog, accumulated debris must be removed regularly.

  • Page 53 WARNING • Any work on a high-voltage lithium-ion battery is strictly forbidden without permission from X Shore. • Do not open any high-voltage lithium-ion batteries without authorization. • Do not expose a high-voltage lithium-ion battery to external heating sources and direct sunlight. Risk of fire if the battery temperature exceeds 60 °C.
  • Page 54: Response In Case Of Battery Malfunction

To avoid damage to the batteries do not use the battery compartment as a storage area. The battery compartment is designed to protect the batteries. Although the batteries are designed to withstand direct environmental influences, the service life of a battery may be reduced if the battery is exposed to for example corrosive media (such as water) or aggressive media.
  • Page 55 Liquid escaping from a high-voltage lithium-ion battery is usually a liquid used for controlling the temperature of the battery and not battery electrolyte. Only small quantities (milliliters) of electrolyte are distributed across the individual cells. Escaping cooling liquid or heating liquid can cause suffocation near the floor in enclosed spaces. Ensure sufficient ventilation before approaching a damaged battery.
  • Page 56: Safe Handling Of High-Voltage Battery System

Safe handling of high-voltage battery system WARNING • In case of unintended use, damage, or malfunction, a high-voltage battery can result in burns, other injuries, and fatal electric shock. • The high-voltage lithium-ion battery may only be inspected, installed, and commissioned by qualified persons with appropriate high-voltage knowledge.
  • Page 57 Working on high-voltage batteries WARNING • Usage of a high-voltage lithium-ion battery after deep discharge can result in malfunction, damage, and spontaneous fire. • If the battery voltage is less than 277 V OCV for more than 3 hours, the battery can be damaged irreversibly. •...
