To avoid damage to the batteries do not use the battery compartment as a storage area. The battery compartment is
designed to protect the batteries. Although the batteries are designed to withstand direct environmental influences, the
service life of a battery may be reduced if the battery is exposed to for example corrosive media (such as water) or
aggressive media.
In case of a severe battery failure, outgassing and overpressure occurs in a high-voltage lithium-ion battery. Each battery
is therefore equipped with a degassing unit integrated in the housing. The degassing unit enables controlled escape of
the gas out of the housing and protects the battery from pressure-related mechanical failures. A damaged battery may
result in overpressure in the housing, and harmful fumes and jet flames can escape from the degassing units.

Response in case of battery malfunction

A damaged high-voltage lithium-ion battery can cause electrical, chemical, mechanical, and thermal hazards. For further
information please contact our Technical Support.
WARNING
Risk of injury from a defective or damaged high-voltage battery. A defective or damaged battery must not be used
or opened to avoid injury and damage.
• Never touch a damaged battery directly.
• If you notice any damage to the battery after delivery, do not put it into operation.
• Move the boat to a secured holding space with good ventilation (for example outdoors) or arrange for evacuation
of the hazardous area.
• In case of a defective or damaged battery, immediately inform the responsible safety specialists or emergency
services (fire prevention officer, fire service).
Damaged battery
A high-voltage lithium-ion battery can be damaged by an accident, a short circuit, or improper handling, and can ignite
sometime later. This means that this battery should be stored in an area where no consequential damage is expected in
case of fire. Outgassing of the installed Li-Ion cells cannot be completely excluded. Therefore, it is recommended for
each application to have a secured holding space with good ventilation (for example outdoors) for the battery.
Battery leakage
WARNING
The battery electrolyte is irritating, flammable and potentially corrosive. Avoid skin contact with the electrolyte and
inhalation of escaping gases caused by chemical reactions.
