Fenders and mooring lines must be in place, at lease one line fore and one aft. See Fastening points and strongpoint,
page 43.
If possible, have someone on the foredeck that can go ashore and quickly turn the bow in the desired direction after
the boat has stopped completely.
Docking against the wind
It is always easiest to dock against the wind.
Try to hold the bow exactly into the wind.
Maintain sufficient speed for the boat to answer the rudder.
If the bow is blown off in one direction, back out and repeat the maneuver.
Bring the bow up to the jetty and get a line ashore quickly.
Docking with a side wind
It can be a bit tricky to dock with a side wind.
Do not steer parallel to the jetty letting the boat blow in. There is always a risk of the bow being blown off towards
other boats or the jetty.
Try to maneuver the boat so that the wind comes directly from astern, this will help hold the boat on a straight course
and you can maneuver straight ahead.

Towing advice

Attach the tow line so that it can be detached under load.
When towing another boat or being towed, always drive slowly.
If the boat you are towing is of the displacement hull type, never exceed its hull speed.
Keep in mind that the stability of a boat may decrease when being towed.

Anchor your boat

Before you anchor:
Check the chart to see if anchoring is permitted in the area.
Listen to the weather forecast for the area and take note of the expected wind conditions.
Wait until you have reached the intended anchoring point before lowering the anchor.
