6 CLEANING AND STERILIZATION
NOTE: Repeated reprocessings have minimal
effect on devices and their accessories. The
end of service life of devices and accessories
is generally determined by wear or damage
resulting from use. mectron guarantees the
integrity of its scaler handpieces for up to 250
reconditioning cycles.
6.1 Cleaning of the Accessories that can be Sterilised
NOTE: cleaning procedures should be
performed immediately after each use.
Immerse the insert tip and/or the instrument
in demineralized water or in an enzymatic
detergent solution immediately after use. Do
not leave residues or blood on insert tips and
instruments, remove coarser impurities with a
disposable cloth or paper.
the following parts of the device can be
sterilized:
• Scaler handpiece;
• Scaler nose cone;
• Scaler light pipe;
• insert tips;
• Insert tips torque wrench.
CAUTION: Do not immerse the handpiece
in disinfecting solutions or other liquids as
these could damage it.
CAUTION: Do not immerse the handpiece
in the ultrasonic tank.

operations described in the following
sections are to be performed at first use and
at all subsequent uses.
CAUTION: the following instructions
have been validated by MECTRON in order
to enable the medical device to be reused.
the person responsible for the maintenance,
cleaning and sterilization process, guarantees
that repeated processes are actually carried
out using equipment, materials and staff
in the reprocessing structure in order to
achieve the desired result. this generally
requires the validation and systematic
monitoring of the process. Similarly, all
deviations from the instructions provided
by the person responsible for the processes
should be properly evaluated for judging the
effectiveness and the potential undesirable
consequences.
