Interior motion sensor*
If the interior motion sensor is primed, a vis-
ual and audible alarm is triggered if move-
ment is detected in the vehicle interior while
the vehicle is locked. This occurs, for exam-
ple, if someone breaks the side windows of
your vehicle or reaches into the vehicle's inte-
rior.
Priming the interior motion sensor
Make sure that:

the side windows are closed

the roof is closed
R
the stowage compartments under the
R
armrest are closed
there are no objects, e.g. mascots, hang-
R
ing on the rear-view mirror or on the
grasp handles on the roof trim.
This will prevent false alarms.
Make sure that the boot lid is closed.

Only then can the interior motion sensor be
primed.
Lock the vehicle using the key. On vehicles
X
with KEYLESS GO*, the locking button on
* optional
the door handle/boot lid can also be used
to lock the vehicle.
The interior motion sensor is primed after
approximately 30 seconds.
The factory setting is that the interior motion
sensor is not primed if the roof is open. You
can use the on-board computer to change the
settings so that the interior motion sensor is
primed even when the roof is open
( page 121).

You should always close the roof when
you park your vehicle to prevent a false
alarm being triggered, for example by fall-
ing leaves or insects. In certain countries,
the interior motion sensor is primed even
when the roof is open.

Do not place any objects on the armrest
in the centre console. This could otherwise
interfere with the interior motion sensor.
Metallic objects coming into contact with
other metallic objects may trigger a false
alarm. Therefore, do not leave objects such
as a bunch of keys in or next to the armrest.
Use a different lockable stowage compart-
ment for such items.
Anti-theft systems
To deactivate the interior motion sen-
sor
To prevent a false alarm, deactivate the inte-
rior motion sensor if you lock your vehicle and
people remain in the vehicle

animals remain in the vehicle
R
the windows remain open.
